I am discouraged about the State of our Union, which isn't very united. Don't get me wrong, I truly believe that we need divergent opinion and intelligent discourse but that certainly isn't what we have now. We have some yammerheads running around screaming that all that matters is that we have a deficit, and offer no solutions except to cut spending in a depression. Yes I said depression. It's time to take the blinders off and call a spade a spade. We are in a depression although the upper crust doesn't seem to be in it with us. In my area, we have well over 20% unemployment or underemployment. The stores are closing, restaurants have closed and it seems that there is no end to the spiral downwards.
We have our Congressmen proposing that we should have a moritorium on new regulation of the oil and gas sector because it hurts small business, even though there certainly is nothing small about oil and gas, and the two of them were instrumental in exascerbating the debt crisis.
I am discouraged....
